About Us

Who We Are

The Church of the Open Bible in Hardin was established in 1944 and has had a large influence in the community. Our desire is to see the city of Hardin and Big Horn County impacted for the Kingdom of God; however, we realize that we cannot do it alone. Therefore, we are joining with other churches in the area to share the love of Christ with people in our community. We know that we can be more effective in fulfilling our mission by working together as one Church rather than separate individual churches. We are affiliated with the Open Bible Churches denomination headquartered in Des Moines, IA. Open Bible Churches has roots in the 1906 Azusa Street Revival. From the Azusa Street Revival, two other revival movements were formed: Bible Standard Conference, founded in Eugene, OR in 1919, and Open Bible Evangelistic Association, founded in Des Moines, IA in 1932. Similar in doctrine and structure, the two groups amalgamated in 1935 as "Open Bible Standard Churches". Open Bible Churches today is an association of churches and ministers called to serve their communities and the greater Body of Christ. Together, our mission is to globally make disciples, develop leaders, and plant churches. Besides our ministry in the U.S., Open Bible Churches is ministering in 46 countries.

Leadership

Mike and Nancy Juntunen: Pastor Mike and Nancy have three grown sons and seven grandchildren. They both graduated from Open Bible College in Des Moines, IA in 1977 and have been in ministry since that time. Pastor Mike has also recently completed his Masters degree from Global University.
Pastor Mike and Nancy pastored various churches together for 30 years before entering the mission field. They were the directors of INSTE Bible College for 10 years in Hungary, and for 2 years ministered in the Open Bible Church in Gherla, Romania. They became the pastors of the Church of the Open Bible in Hardin in January 2021.
Pastor Mike is a teacher of the Word of God and believes strongly that the Bible is the foundation of all we do as followers of Jesus Christ. He also stresses the importance of not just obtaining information about God and His Word, but also of applying the Word of God to our lives. His goal is to not only help people grow in their knowledge of Scripture but to also experience a transformation in their life as they begin to apply the truths of God’s Word to their lives.

VALUES

Core values provide a foundation of who we are as a church. We believe that God has called the Church of the Open Bible to be a:

Praying church

And as he taught them, he said, “Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’? (Mark 11:17).

Spirit-empowered Church

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8).

Healthy Church

So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors, and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. (Eph. 4:11-13).

Mentoring Church

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit… (Matt. 28:19).

Giving Church

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. (2 Cor. 9:6-7).

Everything we do is based upon these values.

Welcome Message

Welcome to Hardin Church of the Open Bible. Thank you for visiting our website! Our goal at the Church of the Open Bible is two-fold. First, we pray that everyone who visits our services experiences the Presence and Power of God. Second, we are committed to teaching the life-changing Word of God, and helping people learn how to apply that Word to their lives. It is our desire to see people’s lives transformed by the Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit, and then to equip and empower them to impact their world for the Kingdom of God. We would like to extend an invitation for you to come “check us out” next Sunday at 10:30 am. See what God has in store for you.
